We’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our R&D team and lead the development of our core backend systems. You will design and scale the services that ingest, analyze, and correlate massive amounts of data from cloud environments. This work is central to Kodem’s platform and directly impacts our real-time detection, insight generation, and customer experience.
About the role

• You’ll design, build, and optimize backend services and microservices that operate at scale and power Kodem’s core functionality.
• You’ll architect and implement data ingestion and processing pipelines capable of handling high-throughput, high-variance data.
• You’ll develop systems that detect anomalies, correlate contextual signals, and generate actionable insights for customers.
• You’ll drive architectural decisions, contribute to long-term system design, and own your services all the way to production.
• You’ll ensure the platform is resilient, secure, observable, and performant as usage grows.
• You’ll participate in cross-team design reviews, technical planning, and initiatives to advance engineering standards.
• As a key contributor in a high-velocity startup environment, you’ll influence internal best practices and help shape product direction.

Must have qualifications

• 5+ years of experience developing backend systems and distributed services.
• Deep knowledge of backend development using Python, Go, or Node.js (Python preferred).
• Hands-on experience building cloud-native systems deployed on AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Strong experience with distributed messaging and processing frameworks such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, Amazon SQS, Celery, or similar.
• Strong understanding of system design, scalability, observability, and performance optimization.

Preferred background

• Experience designing RESTful APIs with OpenAPI specifications.
• Knowledge of cloud provider internals and cloud infrastructure patterns.
• Experience in cybersecurity, data processing, or analytical product domains.
• Experience with async programming (e.g., asyncio).
• B.Sc. in Computer Science or equivalent experience (including military).
