Backed by top investors including Greylock, Norwest Venture Partners, and IVP, we’ve built a complete SaaS security platform to reduce risk, detect and respond to threats, and prevent breaches at the source. Our team includes leaders who helped define the categories of endpoint and identity security at CrowdStrike, Okta, Cylance, and Carbon Black.

Now, we’re transforming how SaaS is secured—in the era of agentic AI.

Today, Obsidian is trusted by global enterprises like Snowflake, T-Mobile, and Pure Storage. We protect more than 200 organizations across North America, Europe, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Australia, and New Zealand—including many of the world’s largest Fortune 1000 and Global 2000 companies.

With strong global momentum, a growing partner ecosystem including SentinelOne, Databricks, and Google Cloud, and a major fundraise on the horizon, we’re scaling quickly toward long-term growth and IPO readiness. Join us as we define the future of SaaS security!

About the Role

At Obsidian, we relentlessly pursue clarity in a landscape defined by complexity. We’re looking for a Senior Security Engineer who thrives at the intersection of security research and product engineering. You’ll dig deep into emerging threats, craft high-impact product features, and help shape the defensive strategies that protect our customers at scale.

This role is for someone who loves uncovering how attackers think—and building systems that help the security team to prevent or stop real-world attacks.

What You’ll Do:

  • Partner with threat and security researchers to understand new risks and threats, and evolving behaviors across modern SaaS and cloud environments.
  • Build high-signal, low-noise detections that elevate our threat detection & response product capability.
  • Build and optimize a detection pipeline for better performance, resilience, and richer capabilities.
  • Ship features across the backend and UI end-to-end when needed, to deliver the optimal outcome.

What You Bring:

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in product engineering in cybersecurity.
  • Experience with data pipelines (dbt, Kafka/PubSub, Spark/Flink, Athena/BigQuery, etc.).
  • Proficiency in Python/Go/Scala and SQL.
  • Experience with log processing, anomaly detection, and applying ML models to threat detection.
  • Thrives in ambiguity — able to translate complex findings into clear, actionable steps.
  • Outcome-driven mindset — prioritize impact over output.
  • Comfort operating in a fast-moving, technically sophisticated environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Full-stack product experience (React/TypeScript a plus).
  • Strong grounding in attacker methodologies, MITRE ATT&CK, and modern threat actor behaviors.
  • Broad security domain knowledge: network and system security, authentication protocols, cryptography, application, and device security.
