Sr. Full Stack Software Engineer
Madison, WI
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain scalable full-stack applications using modern frameworks and cloud-native services.
- Implement and enhance RESTful APIs, microservices, and integrations with internal and external platforms.
- Build performant, accessible, and responsive front-end user interfaces.
- Collaborate with peers and technical leads on system design, implementation, and code reviews.
- Write clean, testable, and maintainable code following best practices.
- Implement and contribute to CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and observability improvements.
- Support production systems through troubleshooting, debugging, and on-call participation as needed.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and contribute ideas for continuous improvement.
- Create and maintain technical documentation to ensure operational readiness and supportability.
- Ensure compliance with security standards, data governance, and accessibility requirements.
- Provide accurate timelines for specific tasks assigned.
- Travel as needed for projects or support (5-10%).
Job Requirements:
- 5+ years of professional experience in software development, with demonstrated expertise in both front-end and back-end systems.
- Strong proficiency in at least one modern front-end framework (React, Angular, or Vue).
- Experience developing backend services using Node.js, Java, Go, or Python.
- Solid understanding of RESTful API design, database modeling, and integration patterns.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and containerized deployments (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or DynamoDB.
- Familiarity with CI/CD practices and modern DevOps workflows.
- Strong debugging, performance optimization, and problem-solving skills.
- Working knowledge of application security and secure development practices.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams.
- Ability to work independently and manage workload with minimal supervision.
- Ability to quickly learn new technologies.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with distributed or event-driven systems (e.g., Kafka, SNS/SQS).
- Familiarity with serverless technologies or infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Exposure to data streaming, analytics, or machine learning integration.
- Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies and DevOps culture.
- Contributions to open-source projects or technical communities.
- Experience with version control systems (Git/GitHub).
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Advanced degree or relevant certifications (AWS, Kubernetes, etc.) are a plus.
